If you're going to get into a contracting job, the company will be more likely to hire a person with a degree because they can charge the customer more. This also adds credibility to the contracting agency by hiring people with degrees resulting in an appearance of being an intelligent company that can perform the tasks set in the contract on time and on-budget. Certificates like Security+ and the CISSP look great for technical purposes, but do not have the same effect as a degree. It could also mean 10-20k more in your annual salary with any company, contracting or not. -----Original Message----- From: listbounce () securityfocus com [mailto:listbounce () securityfocus com] On Behalf Of reflect ocean Sent: Tuesday, February 03, 2009 8:36 AM To: security-basics () securityfocus com Subject: OT: Importance of holding an E degree in infosec Hi.
