Ironkey. It has on-board crypto processor that will kill itself, limiting the effectiveness of a brute-force attack. The U3, if taken out of the windows environment is susceptible to whatever the attacker wants to try.

There are drives such as the SmartDrive thumb drive with U3 technology. They have onboard encryption that does not require encryption be installed but be aware that when you plug in the device, you have to install it ontothe computer so if you do not have those rights, all bets are off. -----Original Message-----From: securityfocus2 () googlegroups com [mailto:securityfocus2 () googlegroups com] On Behalf Of Ali, Saqib Sent: Friday, 28 March, 2008 10:54 To: Kevin Ortloff Cc: Lovena J Reddi; JD Brown; security-basics () securityfocus com Subject: Re: encryption software for pendrive Hi Lovena, Seems like you need a Fully Encrypted External Storage Device. A encryption software installed on pendrive will not do what you are looking for.
