Flagstone encrypted drives interrupt the bios at boot. The first start after a hard reboot prompts for the authentication, and subsequent soft-boots continue to allow access without re-authenticating. Attempting to access the data without authentication is blocked in the hardware so mounting the drive is not an option. http://www.flagstonesecure.com/flagstone_corporate.aspx?navid=246
