Hi list, well, I think it's really dangerous to use free mails for business purposes. People shouldn't send and receive confidential information that way. Mails are stored on 3rd party server (at least for a while), you never know, what they are doing with emails. (grep confidential *) :) Also if someone receives a business-oriented email from free mail address it's suspicious and unprofessional. If you need to work from home, use some client VPN solution, this is the best I can say. Regards, Michal P.S. I have the same opinion about using company emails for mailing lists - don't do that On 10/16/06, Micheal Espinola Jr <michealespinola () gmail com> wrote:
The two reasons I see it as a bad ideas because are: 1.) you are more likely to be subject to DNSBL blocking (risk:loss of information), and 2.) it looks unprofessional (risk:corporate identity). Confidentiality is subjective to the policies of the provider and are not necessarily the same across them all. Most anything discussed here would be speculation in one form or another, except that by signing up fora free web mail provider you are very typically entering an agreement that can be modified by the provider at their discretion without your notification, acknowledgement or agreement. The potential information security risks run the full spectrum of possibilities under such circumstance.
