Need for recommendation for setting up a virtual lab

I wanna setup a virtual security lab for educating
myself in the field.
I need some good papers-articles how to do (best)
this. I have a P4 PC
and internet connection. My googleing didnt yet bring
any usefull and
good stuff. And your recommendations will be great
too.
