Hi all, long time reader first time poster. On the opposite side of that coin, I come from a computer science undergrad background, where I have all the basics down, am very comfortable with tcp/ip, C, and various scripting languages. I'm pretty new to the security field, but got a position with a great little company and I can't help but think that there are about 1000 things that I don't have a clue about and sources of info are more or less semi-public... out there, but not terribly easy to find. I read the big mailing lists to stay up on current issues (bugtraq, fd) and keep up with the new advisories put out by secunia, sf, etc, but I would like to get more involved in the security community. Most of the other mailing lists (sadly including this one) hosted by security focus are pretty slow. Any recommendations for good forums/mailing lists... even irc channels I guess, ect to see whats going on in the community more than just advisories. This can be anything from pen test groups to vuln researchers and so on. At this point I'm in the soaking up stage and just trying to get a little knowledge across the board in the security field before I focus in on any one issue.
