Raj,
You need to start with your router configuration, both software and
hardware. Cisco provides several VPN/tunnel options, each with different
behavior. IPSEC tunnels encapsulate the data differently from GRE
tunnels. The following link will answer your questions. If you can be
more specific you will probably get more specific links. Things that
help are what kind of VPN tunnel? What kind of routers? What level of
encryption?

I want to know how the VPNs created on cisco routers encapsulate the
data. Need to know the basic intricacies like
which algorithm is used?
how does packet transform.
Is it a IOS capability or there is some VLSI chip inside the box which

VPNs on cisco-cisco network are same as cisco-anyother network ?
