I'm all for it, with exception to when data gets lost because of physical damage to HDD caused by any number of spyware that maintains a database continually pounding on a sector of an IDE HDD, or when any number of programs hose the OS. But for what? The OS or binaries have to be able to see the data, so if the security of the OS is compromised, it's all a mute point... Security should prolly be engineered under these circumstances for the workstation to be expendable, using terminal services through VPN metered by biometrics for offsite access to data.
