If this is an OS X machine using a Unix filesystem, chances you'll be able to recover are slim to none if the machine 
has been in use for any measure of time.  You could try Data Rescue II from prosoftengineering.com but enter into the 
effort with really low expectations unless the machine was shut down immediately following the deletion and hasn't been 
used since.
