Steve,

I have to second Don's thoughts on this. While I am biased (I'm a GSEC
Advisory Board member), the questions can be quite specific and they
cover a lot of ground. GIAC offers a number of different training
options and some are less costly than others - you might want to look
into some of the mentor-based training, or the study-at-home style as
they may save travel costs.

As well, attending the training gives you access to pre-exam tests
that really do make a difference, and gives you an opportunity to ask
questions on the student forums. The staff are very good at answering
quickly and clarifying complex sections.
