The Sec+ was never on the same level as a GIAC cert. Even with the watering down of the GIAC cert via its cancellation of the practical, the exams were still rather difficult. The knowledge required of a GIAC far surpassed the Sec+. You are indeed correct though that the CISSP is a management cert, and is a good one in its intended purpose. What has pissed off many GIAC cert holders including myself, is the lack of consultation on this watershed change. After all it was our practical papers that made GIAC the site that it is. Not to mention that we had no choice but to have our practical posted on the site. A lot of people went there to read the excellent papers that the practicals were. To have this type of change done without consultation of the "shareholders" (the GIAC cert holders)is bad business, and smacks as I have said before of a money grab. I was always touting the GIAC cert myself, prior to this. No more though. CISSP is a very broad certification, basically it says you know a little about a lot. I don't think the GIAC and Sec+ will ever be 'on the same level' but close. Aman Raheja wrote:Where does it say about them dropping price for the exam. Until now they have not put it on the website (or I didn't find it) that the non practical certification is at any lower cost. It doesn't probably make it worthless but indeed, I agree, just another test. I am wondering even though GIAC had this practical exam, CISSP was still more wanted in the market. Any reason? GIAC will probably becaome equivalent to the Security+. I am not sure how they match up on content or level of knowledge required. Someone how's done both can probably confirm or refute my sayinf so.
