Not sure if this helps, but Windows 2000 can be made to not update the Last Accessed time stamps via a registry setting. Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem\ DWORD: NtfsDisableLastAccessUpdate Ref: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/Windows2000Pro/reskit/part6/proch30.mspx
