I ran into similar issues and for a cheap solution just created a PGP Disk with text files that contained username/passwords for various systems. Also stored critical license files, messages and other docs that needed secured and saved. PGP disk is stored on a Raid5 disk set, and is then backed up encrypted to DVD with the rest of the user docs. ...
