Hi!
In version 2.1 the IBM Stac Gaurd was added which is the first real such move for having hardened sucurity.
It's called IBM Stack Smashing Protector, SSP aka ProPolice. StackGuard is something completely different (produced by different people too, i.e. Immunix, not IBM). The SSP patch is used in several other distributions already.
The main bonus with trustix is SWUP. It keeps your system up to date easily and automaticly if enabled.
Sounds a lot like yet another Debian apt-get wannabee.
As the user base grows the nubmer of packages contrubuted for the community is growing far beyond just a solid server environment. It has the potential to challenge the other big distros like debain for number of packages and the ease of adding them onto your existing system in a year or so.
FYI, Debian has roughly a 1000 developers. Debian stable has more than 8.000 packages. Debian unstable has more than 13.000 packages. I wish you good luck, you have a lot of work to do it seems.
