I had this issue before, I had changed the default IP network configuration in the router and when I flashed it it didn't save any of the settings, resulting in the same situation your describing. After changing the IP configuration on my workstation to match the default of the router (which is outlined in the documentation) I was able to pull up the web interface. If you really did zap the EPROM in the router and your lucky they have the chip inserted into a socket (although I seriously doubt it), most likely you would need to unsolder the old one to change it out. -Jimmy -----Original Message----- From: Bruyere, Michel [mailto:mbruyere () ezemcanada com] Sent: Friday, June 04, 2004 5:54 PM To: security-basics () securityfocus com Subject: OT: LInksys router BEFSR41 dead... anything i can do? Hi, I have a router BEFSR41 that went dead after a firmware update (IIRC it was 1.47 that I tried to load into it). This was some time ago, so I'm not 100% sure on the version. Anyway, after the flash "completed successfully" I couldn't access the management interface anymore. I called Linksys and got the answer that I had to buy another router, which I did (of another brand!). I actually look to "revive" this router by pushing a 3rd party FM in it. Is it possible to achieve this w/o the web interface? Any docs on this would be appreciated and/or personal experience too. Thanks!
