Iam not 100% sure but I know you can detect wireless sniffers such as kismet
cause it has a footprint. I would suggest looking at the kismet project. The
auther is starting to implement wireless IDS features using it.

Curious; is it possible to remotely detect a sniffing wireless card that's

As far as I know, you can't. By definition a wireless card in monitor mode
only receives packets, and it doesn't emit anything.
