PKI in wireless transactions

Hi, all, is SSL functionality available in wireless transactions. I need to know what is the known method of security concerning wireless transaction (during transit)? I've come across the word tunnelling, does anyone have any info on this? Excuse my lack on knowledge guys, I am new to the sunject and am currently doing research on wireless securtity.
