Hello Michel, Try the demo version of Observer Suite from www.networkinstuments.com at http://www.networkinstruments.com/downloads/index.html It demo's in two modes: 1. Watch a fake sample network but show you the interface. 2. Watch your real network but limit the more powerful tools to 60 seconds. Even in the second mode you can gather a lot of statistics. A second solution is to try the demo of ORION for SolarWinds.net if you have SNMP setup on one or both switches. You can download a 50 Element 30 day demo from http://solarwinds.net/Orion/Orion-Download-Tools.htm Shaun Sturby, MCSE Manager - Technical Services Optrics Engineering - Ipswitch Premier Partners & Network Specialists Email: Shaun () Optrics com Website: www.Optrics.com United States: 1859 East 5750 South, Ogden, UT 84403 Toll Free: 1-877-386-3763 Fax: (801) 705-3150 Canada: Suite 100 4911-114 St. Edmonton, AB, T6H 3L5 Toll Free: 1-877-463-7638 Fax: (780) 432-5630 Solutions for a Connected World: www.Optrics.com/linecard.htm Optrics Engineering and FundSoft are divisions of Optrics Inc. -----Original Message----- From: Bruyere, Michel [mailto:mbruyere () ezemcanada com] Sent: Thursday, March 27, 2003 8:22 AM To: security-basics () securityfocus com Subject: bandwidth monitoring for baystacks Hi all, I'm sorry to post this little off-topic question but its my last ressource i can rely on. I need to monitor the bandwidth between 2 switches (Baystack 350-24T with dual optical fiber exp port). I can see statistics for every port (1 to 26, including both fiber ports) when i telnet in the switch, but i would like to have a tool that will help me to monitor the bandwidth usage in real time and that will allow me to do some graphs or reports (something that i can use/present to the corp. administrators and that they will understand) on the load of the fiber link NB.: We are in a M$ world, no *nix boxes. If possible the tool should be freeware or cheap with a demo version. Thanks a lot Michel Bruyere Network/systems administrator ------------------------------------------------------------------- SurfControl E-mail Filter puts the brakes on spam, viruses and malicious code.
