Hi A simple tool to achieve these results would be Firewall Informer from Blade Their marketing blurb goes something like this " Blade Software created Firewall Informer to enable audit, security and network staff to effectively validate the deployment, configuration and performance of firewalls simply and easily. There is no need for extensive knowledge of multiple platforms " http://www.blade-software.com/FWInformer_LP.htm This is not a pen-testing tool you need direst access to both sides of the firewall [Disclaimer: I run a banner on my site for Blade, not for money but a copy of the product, coz it looks kinda s3xy. The presence of the banner has in no way influenced this post, if I thought it was cr4p I'd still say so] take care -andy Talisker Security Tools Directory http://www.securitywizardry.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Blake Wiedman [Icons]" <bwiedman () iconsinc com> To: <security-basics () securityfocus com> Sent: Friday, November 28, 2003 8:44 PM Subject: Re: Pen test: which ones??
Exactly what does he mean by 'firewall security tests' this could include remote attempts to bypassing the firewall or querying inside machines. Or it could include reviewing the ACL's on the firewall it's self. As far as tools the only thing I utilize is hping2 or firewalker for all of you die-hards out there. Blake Wiedman Icons Inc. Hi, folks. A customer of mine is asking for 'firewall security tests', including (if any) pen tests with reports, graphics and so on. Can you please suggest sites (url's) where I can get it? Like tools, howto's, recipes, etc. TIA. saudações, irado furioso com tudo 100% Microsoft-free Linux User 179402/FreeBSD BSD50853 Tudo o que Existe egressa do Ser e regressa ao Ser.
