I replied to this once already but never saw the post show up. If you are talking about a real live modem connected to your machine, WinPcap won't be able to monitor it under Win2k or WinXP. This affects every app dependent upon WinPcap including Ethereal. This is covered at length in their FAQ. Note that a DSL or Cable modem will be a different matter *if* it is an external device that plugs into your computer through an Ethernet NIC - in which case, there is no problem since WinPcap is really watching the NIC, not the modem. -----Original Message----- From: Brandon A.
